Course Description: Creativity is one of the most important factors when it comes to leading others. Most people don't know this but one of the keys to being a good leader is developing your creativity. Being creative helps leaders understand other perspectives better and open up new opportunities for success. Become a creative leader who can generate ideas, execute ideas, improvise, and inspire others to unleash their creative energies. This course will outline the steps you need to take in order to develop your creativity and become an even better leader. If you're looking for ways to develop your leadership skills, this course is for you. Chad Willett, an International speaker, author, and TEDx presenter, will show you what it takes to be a creative leader and how you can cultivate that creativity not only in yourself but also in others.

Chad focuses on sharing his knowledge through micro-courses in which he takes advantage of 4 key improvisational principles he learned while training with the Groundlings in a way that allows course takers to gain a creative advantage over competition in a wide range of business settings. The micro-courses and 4 principles that will drive the course content include:

The “Through Line” - Students will learn to develop their ‘Through Line’ by creating 3 one to three year objectives and 1 5+ year super-objective. When students are able to articulate their ‘Through Line’ that will allow them to achieve these objectives, they will have an understanding of the concept and can move on to Part 2.

Neuro Linguistic Programming - Students will learn to focus on and understand how they look when communicating non-verbally. Once awareness of the non-verbal cues being given and the corresponding interpretations team members will have are understood, students can move on to Part 3.

Groundlings Improvisational Principle #1- Focus - Students will learn to shift focus off of themselves and onto others as a means of gaining situational awareness.

Groundlings Improvisational Principle #2- Don’t Anticipate - Students will learn to allow others to speak their entire thought before cutting them off during conversation, a valuable and oft-overlooked communication skill.

Groundlings Improvisational Principle #3- Say “Yes And” - Students will develop a creative mindset by discovering the difference between a “Yes and” mindset and a “No” mindset, resulting in the ability to hear and value all voices within a team setting.

Groundlings Improvisational Principle #4- “Embrace Mistakes” - Students will learn to experiment and explore while embracing mistakes for their power to help us learn.
